Summer is almost over :(

Whether we like it or not, summer is winding down!

Review your summer operations.

The end of the season is right around the corner. Take some time to review how things went and get off on the right foot as you start your preparations for 2025.

  • What are your biggest lessons learned from 2024?

    • Did you have enough staff?

    • Did you do enough training with your staff?

    • What could you have planned for, but didn’t?

  • How did you adjust your operations or plans during the season?

  • What feedback did you get from your supervisor(s)?

  • What feedback did you get from your guests?

Assess your season: replicate the good and learn from the bad.

End your season with a splash!

PWCS Aquatics Center team building activity

It’s been a long summer, but that doesn’t mean we should take our foot off the gas pedal. Bring your team together one more time to wrap up the season with some fun and team building.

Although we indoor facility, the team from the PWCS Aquatics Center (over 175 strong!) spent the day learning about one another and working together to problem solve. Here is one of the activities they participated in:

The Blind Polygon

  • A group of 10-15 team members form a circle around a long rope.

  • One member is designated at the facilitator, and the remaining members put on blindfolds. The blindfolded members should be moved varying distances away from the rope, either inside the circle or away from it.

  • The facilitator will be provided with a shape that the blindfolded members must form using the rope.

  • Give the group a time limit with which to accomplish this task.

To increase the level of difficulty, consider requiring that all blindfolded participants must touch the rope, even if they are not needed to create the shape. Alternatively, consider removing the blindfolds, but not allowing the facilitator to task.

Some expected outcomes of this activity are team members learning each other’s names, creative methods of communication, problem solving, and much more!
